Hotel reservations should be made as early as possible to guarantee room rates and availability.  The hotel cutoff date is Friday October 20, 2008; however, if the room block fills before that date rooms may not be available. 

Please note: Hyatt Regency San Antonio will provide a contribution of 10% of conference room fees to the AAMA Educational and Research Foundation to further the mission of AAMA.  Your reservation at the headquarters hotel, Hyatt Regency San Antonio, supports the conference. The price AAMA pays for the meeting rooms is directly related to how many attendees stay in the hotel.

Accreditation

The American Academy of Medical Administrators (AAMA) Research & Educational Foundation, Inc. will award 9 continuing education credits (0.9 CEUs) for the 2208 Annual Conference, 6 continuing education credits (0.6 CEUs) for the pre-conference Federal Day and 3 continuing education credits (0.3 CEUs) for the AAMA pre-conference, Making a Difference by Leading Up.

AAMA is approved by the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) for Category II (non-ACHE) continuing education credit. Credits have been applied for from the American Association of Respiratory Care (AARC), the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) and the Illinois Nurses Association (INA).

To receive continuing education credits, complete the conference evaluation form and indicate sessions attended. One AAMA continuing education credit equals one contact hour of instruction or point one (.1) CEU.

What Registration Fees Include

  • All full conference packages include Wednesday reception, Thursday luncheon, Thursday + Friday sessions, continental breakfasts, and breaks.
  • One day only rates include:  Thursday - educational sessions, continental breakfast, breaks and luncheon;  Friday - educational sessions, continental breakfast and break. 
  • Guest fee includes Wednesday reception, Thursday luncheon and continental breakfasts.  Guest refers to a family member or personal friend, not a business associate or staff member.  Guest fee does not include education sessions.
  • Full-time student includes AAMA Conference sessions, Wednesday reception, Thursday luncheon and continental breakfasts.
  • All registrations (except guest) include continuing education credits for the day(s) registered.
  • Pre-conference sessions, including Federal Day on November 19, are not included in the basic 2008 AAMA Annual Conference fee.

AAMA Foundation Conference Scholarships

The American Academy of Medical Administrators Research & Educational Foundation offers two scholarships for each of AAMA's educational programs. The scholarship covers the cost of registration for the AAMA conference. Travel, non-conference meals and hotel expenses are the responsibility of the scholarship recipient.

Applicants must be AAMA members. Applications will be considered based on financial need. Obtain scholarship application  or request a form from AAMA headquarters. Mail or fax completed form to AAMA headquarters by September 10.


Call for 2008 AAMA Annual Conference Moderators

Moderators are needed for the 2008 AAMA Annual Conference. 

Moderators introduce concurrent session speakers and make sure they are set up for their presentation.

AAMA staff provides complete information to introduce the speaker and is available during the session to support you.

Review the AAMA Conference at a Glance or the AAMA Conference brochure to identify which session you might like to moderate.  If more than one person has asked to moderate a particular session, you may be assigned to another session in the same specialty track.

Call for Resume Reviewers at AAMA Annual Conference

Experiencedhealthcare administrators who are AAMA members are invited to be a resume reviewer at the 2008 AAMA Annual Conference.  Requirements to be selected as a reviewer include:

15 or more years as a healthcare administrator with a familiarity of military and civilian healthcare, especially civilian healthcare administration.

Participate in Resume Review Training that will be offered via toll-free conference call before the November conference.

Commitment to sign up to perform resume reviews during at least one one-hour time slot on Thursday, November 19.  You will miss one hour of the AAMA Conference. 

To express your interest in being an AAMA Resume Reviewer, please contact Mary Kovacs.

You will be notified if you are selected to be an AAMA Resume Reviewer and when the training will take place. 

Becoming an AAMA Resume Reviewer is an ideal opportunity for AAMA Fellows and Diplomates to mentor their colleagues and contribute to the healthcare administration profession. (Other experienced healthcare administrators are also welcome, an AAMA credential is not required). 

Conference Cancellation Policy

Cancellations must be received in writing by November 5, 2008, to qualify for a refund. A $50 processing fee will be deducted*. No shows will be billed. After November 5, no refund will be provided. Occasionally changes in the conference may be made due to speaker availability, participant demand or unforeseen circumstances. While AAMA will do everything possible to ensure participant satisfaction, AAMA's liability is limited to the registration fee only.

*Non-members canceling before November 5, 2008, will be charged the $50 processing fee; the complimentary 2009 AAMA membership will be voided.
