Coast Guard Air Station Tour:

Tuesday, November 16, 2010, 12:00-4:00pm

Air Station Clearwater is located on the NW side of the St Petersburg – Clearwater Int’l Airport.  The largest and busiest Air Station in the Coast Guard. In addition to the local area, their Area of Operations includes the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean basin, and the Bahamas. H-60s are constantly deployed for Operations Bahamas, Turks and Caicos (OPBAT), a joint DEA, Coast Guard, Bahamian Turks and Caicos anti-drug and migrant smuggling operation in the Bahamas. C-130s deployed in support of JIATF operations in the Caribbean. This is done while simultaneously maintaining a constant Bravo Zero Search and Rescue response at home in Florida.

This is a unique opportunity to see behind the scenes of the United States Coast Guard.  Learn how the nations smallest Armed Service performs a myriad of missions.  Interested AAMA conference attendees can meet at the Air Station at 12:00 for a guided tour of the Air Station, including the medical facilities.  No transportation is provided.

Attendees interested in participating in the tour are requested to RSVP to [email protected]

Morton Plant Mease is a not-for-profit health care system comprised of hospitals, outpatient and surgical centers, immediate care centers, rehabilitation centers, wellness centers, a family health center, and a home health care agency. Their vision is to be recognized as Florida’s pre-eminent community-focused health care organization and the leader in medicine through their Centers of Excellence. This vision is brought to life through the caring and commitment of more than 6,900 team members and 1,220 highly qualified physicians.

For the 11th consecutive year, Morton Plant Hospital was named in the Thomson Reuters 100 Top Hospitals: Cardiovascular Benchmarks study. Morton Plant is the only hospital in the U.S. to have been named by the study all 11 years. The study examined the performance of 971 hospitals by analyzing outcomes for patients diagnosed with heart failure and heart attacks and for those who received coronary bypass surgery or percutaneous cardiovascular interventions (PCI) such as angioplasties.

This tour with lectures is limited to 30 participants on a first sign-up basis (a wait list will be established) and will focus primarily on Cardiovascular services but likely will include other aspects such as Women’s Health and Oncology.
