AAMA | Membership Catagories & Terms |



Any individual who is currently employed in a healthcare organization or system, healthcare related industry, or in healthcare education; and has earned a baccalaureate degree or its equivalent in education and experience.


A Member in good standing who applies for Fellow membership and who meets the criteria for Fellow membership established by the Board of Directors.

Emeritus Fellow

Any Fellow who has filed an application with the Academy requesting to be granted Emeritus Fellow membership; has been a Fellow of the Academy for at least five years; has retired from the healthcare field; has reached the age of sixty; and has attended at least two AAMA Annual conferences in the last five years, and/or actively participated in college or Academy committees during the same time frame.

Student Member

Any individual enrolled in an accredited course for a baccalaureate or higher degree in the healthcare field who meets the criteria established by the Board of Directors and is either (i) enrolled full-time or part-time in a four-year program in health services administration or a related administrative field leading to a baccalaureate degree; or (ii) enrolled full-time or part-time as a graduate student in health services administration or a related administrative field. Graduate students are limited to two years as a Student Member and then must become either a Member or Associate member to continue their membership in the Academy.  Student Members may not be employed in a full-time healthcare management position or hold a commission in the military medical service for which they receive full pay and allowances.  Proof of student status (student ID card or class schedule) must accompany all applications.

Associate Member

Individuals who express an interest in and desire to support the Academy, but are not eligible to belong to AAMA in any other membership category.
